Here's Meryl Streep talking, at the London Press Conference for the new film The Post, about her feelings of affinity with journalists who are currently under attack from the likes of Donald Trump. The film stars Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Sarah Paulson, Bradley Whitford, Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, Bob Odenkirk and many more. The Post depicts the journalists from The Washington Post and The New York Times who published the Pentagon Papers regarding the covert involvement of the United States government during the Vietnam War. The film centres around the cover-up that spanned four U.S. Presidents pushed the country's first female newspaper publisher and a hard-driving editor to join an unprecedented battle between journalist and government. Critics have compared the depicted government of Richard Nixon with that of Donald Trump.
