All of us want lasting and pleasing relationships. In a relationship, partners (coworkers, family, friends, spouses, etc...) need to learn to love and honor one another. So, how do we learn to get closer to the person in one of our most important relationships - God?
In order to honor God, you must also learn to love people. We are all made in the image of God, and we all yearn to please Him, however, we cannot show love to Him without showing love & honor to others. Some of us do not love other people. According to the Bible, however, God's greatest commands are to love the Lord with all of your heart, and with all of your soul, and with all your mind AND to love your neighbors as you love yourself. Therefore, if you wish to honor God, you must recognize that all people are made in the image of God. By doing unto others as you would like them to do unto you (who is made in the image of God), you can build a pleasing and lasting relationship with God. By honoring others, you please God.
