Colombians set glowsticks record to highlight gender inequality

(25 Nov 2018) Colombia has broken the Guinness World Record for having the most people light a glowstick simultaneously. Local organisers gathered in Bogota on Saturday to break the record and in doing so raise awareness about women's rights. The event took place on the eve of UN's Interntional Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Valeria Pachon, a women's rights activist, said the event will help people around the world understand the problems around lack of gender equality. With 4,394 of participants shaking their wrist for a full minute, they surpassed the 3,712-person mark needed to establish a Record.
