A TRIBUTE TO THE LAST DAY OF LAST YEAR - A wonderful Konkan Railway Trip!!!

Today, on 31st December 2017, I would like to publish a tribute to 31st December 2016, which was a wonderful trip that railfan Arzan Kotval and I did together to Chiplun.  There was no better way to end the year, and since I did not have any plans for this year, I thought of uploading a compilation of last year's trip.

It all started at Dadar station, early in the morning when we boarded the Mumbai CST Sawantwadi Holiday Special train.  It was an excellent run after Panvel, in the early morning fog.  It was very chilly but we were still standing at the door and enjoying the curves and scenery.  The Patalganga river bridge was crossed in total fog and can be seen in the video.  At Mangaon we were halted for the crossing of the Kochuveli Dehradun Express.  Later on at Diwan Khavati we overtook a RoRo train as well and finally at Anjani, one stop before Chiplun, we were halted for the crossing of the Mangala Lakshadweep Express, which was just spectacular and one of the best catches of the day.

After reaching Chiplun we took a rickshaw to the Vashishti River Bridge and managed to capture our own Holiday Special train going over the bridge, as well as the same RoRo that we overtook, the Kochuveli Indore Express, the Madgaon Mumbai LTT Double Decker Express, the Delhi Hazrat Nizamuddin Trivandrum Superfast, the Diva Sawantwadi Passengers in both directions, and the famous Mandovi Express. 

After finishing the session at the bridge, we headed back to Chiplun station where we saw the Kerela Sampark Kranti Express waiting for the crossing of the Trivandrum Rajdhani, which sped past superbly.  Our return train, the Karmali Mumbai CST holiday special was delayed by more than 2 hours.  It finally arrived after 7 pm.  But the run was just excellent and we made up a lot of time and reached Dadar by 11:30 pm, just half an hour before the start of 2017!!!
