Russia is stepping up its diplomacy with the DPRK and the ROK. Last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visited Pyongyang and held talks with senior DPRK officials, including top leader Kim Jong Un and Foreign Minister Ri Yong Jo. Russian President Vladimir Putin could meet ROK President Moon Jae-in when he travels to Russia during the soccer World Cup. Russia has also invited DPRK leader Kim Jong Un to visit the country, saying Kim may visit Russia as part of an economic forum held in the far eastern city of Vladivostok in September.
