This catfishing trip has some good tips for catching catfish in the days just before the spawn starts to kick in. Catching catfish can be tough during this time period, so keep this in mind when you are not catching a lot of catfish.

I try to cover a lot of water during the spawn. Not all catfish spawn at the same time, so you can find areas where catfish are not locked up with mates.

Catfish will hit most any bait during this time period including shad, perch, bluegill and many prepared baits.

Drifting, trolling or bottom bouncing are effective methods for covering water and catching catfish during this time period.
