Greetings, greetings. It's Eric Bakker, the naturopath from a long way away. If you're in America or in Europe, I'm all the way in New Zealand. Thanks for coming back. I always appreciate people who view my channel.
Here's a question I've got from a lady in America called Jan. Jan is asking me, "Should I do a cleanse before starting a candida diet?" Well, you should, Jan. In most cases, a cleanse is definitely a smart idea. If you have a look at my book, Candida Crush, you'll see I talk about the big cleanup.
Let's just say you bought a new property, an older house, and the garden is a blooming mess. It's crap everywhere. It probably doesn't look that good, but you got it for a good price. What's the first thing you're going to do? You're going to clean it up.
You're not going to live in a place that's all crappy. You're going to make it nice and tidy so you can enjoy living there.
The gut is the same. I like people to undergo, at the very least, a bowel purge before they start the candida diet, cleaning the path before you walk on it. Get everything out [inaudible] obstacles out of the way, which means pantry overhaul. Again, Candida Crush talks a lot about that in the book, things to throw out of the pantry.
If I came to your house right now, went to your kitchen and I got one of those laundry baskets that you put all the dirty clothes in, if I put one of those on the bench top, I can guarantee for many people, I could half fill that with crap, stuff that needs to go dumped because it's not suitable for the candida diet.
These things need preparing and work before you actually start the diet. Get the stuff out of the kitchen that shouldn't be there and you know the stuff I'm talking about. We've discussed this enough.
Not just the sugary foods, but lots of sauces and many different things you don't want to have in your house. Preparation is everything.
The bowel purge, I've spoken a lot about the bowel purge on previous videos. If you're having problems going to the bathroom, it's very, very important that you do a good bowel purge or cleanse before you start the candida diet. This allows the body to eliminate a lot more wastes and also it confers very good appropriate fermentation in your colon, which confers very good health.
It's all about getting the right bacteria in the place where you want them to go and that happens a lot better when you clean stuff away. If you can't go to the bathroom properly, or you're having a little bit of ineffectual urging or you'll go, say, in the morning, in the afternoons, you'll come back and do a bit more, if it's a bit hit and miss, you need a bowel purge.
Watch my videos on bowel cleansing. Do that first. It's very important that you do that so the cleanse will make the candida diet so much easy for you and less problematic.
Less aggravations, less bloating, less gas, all because you've cleaned that path before you started to walk down that path. Get it clean. It makes a lot of sense.
But if you're like me and going to the bathroom is not a problem, in fact, I easily go to the bathroom twice per day because I eat a lot of fiber. I eat lots of vegetables and fruits so I need to go to the bathroom.
In those cases, if you're like that and you're going into a candida diet, you may not need the bowel purge. You just need to change a little bit some of the foods you're eating and an appropriate antimicrobial therapy.
So, A, are you pooping or B, are you not pooping? If you're not pooping properly, you need to get that bowel cleansed up before you start the candida diet. That's a cleanse, okay, a bowel cleanse, so consider that really a priority if it's not working out well for you. Otherwise, you could end up in a lot of hot water.
I hope that answers your question, Jan. Thanks for your question. I appreciate it. Thank you.
