In a heartwarming video, dozens of police officers are seen escorting the six-year-old son of a fallen lieutenant to his first day of school. Aaron Allan Jr last saw his dad, Southport Lt Aaron Allan, on July 27, 2017. Allan had walked his son to the bus stop for his first day of Kindergarten. Just hours later, Lt Allan was shot dead in the line of duty. On Wednesday, officers from multiple agencies arrived at little Aaron's home to give him a first day of school send off that he would never forget. Their police cruisers lined the street as Aaron and his mother got inside Southport Police Chief Tom Vaughn's vehicle. As the vehicle drove down the street, several officers are seen standing outside their cars waving as Aaron and his mother rode by (bottom right). Lt Allan was killed while responding to a call about a crash with people trapped inside a vehicle. The shooting happened at 2.30pm, just hours after he walked hand-in-hand with his son.
