Topeng Monyet is an Indonesian tradition (as well as other Asian counties such as India) where a macaque monkey is trained ,under controversial conditions, to perform human like acts while wearing a dolls mask and other human attire. While westerners are quick to cry 'animal cruelty', many Indonesian locals see it as a cute form of traditional street performance. I'm not trying to take a side here,...I don't have enough cultural insight ,or facts, but it's another example of our strange relationship as humans with our planet and our fellow species. My instinct tells me that it's cruel, but........there's always a but.
