Bihar CM, Nitish Kumar has broken his silence the recent case of multiple child rapes in a shelter home in Muzaffarpur, saying that he is ashamed of what happened and also promised action against  However, he was unable to explain the role of state welfare minister, Maju Verma, whose husband was allegedly a frequent visitor to the shelter homes. Meanwhile, India Today correspondent was assaulted and pushed back by security staff of Bihar Welfare Minister, Manju Verma when she was questioned about the inaction in the shelter home rapes.
In 2017, Bihar's top body to protect child rights had informed the condition of the girls in the home. The panel had even asked the Govt to shift the girls out of the home immediately. However, the Nitish Kumar govt didn't act on the Child rights body's report.
