Here's a quick video comparing sound from the onboard mic on a Sony NEX VG20 with the Zoom H2n. The VG20 mic is much wider in range than the H2n, so I'm not sure the sound _quality_ is comparable, since the VG20 was picking up sound from 360 degrees, while the H2n was directional. That's something to consider when choosing which mic to use. My preference out in the field is to have the wider range so that ambient sound is fully integrated into the video. But then, I'm not doing interviews.
