Boris's latest mad idea is now open! This cable car is not a traditional fixed system, at the stations the cabins dis-attach from the main cable and are taken slowly around the station. When the cabins leave the station there is some sort of slippage mechanism to allow the cabin to change to the faster moving main cable smoothly (I am still not sure how this works). At one of the stations there is even some points so that the cabins can be individually taken off to the depot. (This is like a cross between a normal cable car and a personal transit system). Boris has named his cable car the "Emirates air line" which is a bit confusing (I guess it is supposed to mean a train line that goes in the air). And it is called Emirates because Boris's friends at the real Emirates airline (aeroplane company) have helped him out with the costs. Despite Boris wanting it to be called the Emirates air line, I think the name Boris's cable car is far more suiting as the system is rather nutty, along with all of Boris's other nutcase ideas, like Boris's bus and Boris's bikes. All of Boris's schemes are very spectacular and fun, but are not really the best use of money. They are just for Boris's ego. http://beno.org.uk
