(1 Nov 2018) Indonesian officials have presented a black box that was recovered following the fatal Lion Air flight that crashed on Monday. The recovery of the black box is a crucial development in the investigation into what caused the two-month-old plane to plunge into the ocean earlier this week, killing 189 people. The chief of Indonesia's National Transportation Safety Committee spoke during a news conference on Thursday, saying the black box is one of two that was attached to the plane before it crashed. Speaking at the Jakarta International Container Terminal, Soerjanto Tjahjono said it could be either the flight data recorder of the cockpit voice recorder. He said, however, it was "most likely" the flight data recorder. The Boeing 737 MAX 8 plane crashed early Monday just minutes after takeoff from the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.
