Latin America's biggest sandwich: Mexicans create 58m sarnie

Chefs in Mexico City have made a 58m-long sandwich, breaking the record for the biggest ever prepared in Latin America. Thousands of pieces of bread, lettuce, onion and tomato were mixed with dozens of ingredients, with each section of the 750kg sarnie being prepared by local chefs.

Despite its super size, the sandwich didn't quite make it into the big league of sandwiches.

According to the Guinness Book of Records, the largest sandwich ever made was in 2005 in the United States and weighed 2,467.5 kg, while the honour of the longest goes to a troupe of Lebanese restaurants who constructed a sandwich over 730m in 2011. Report by Sophie Foster.
