We have a natural tendency to chose the easier road over the harder one. We tend to want to be on the receiving end of generosity than the giving end. One of the reasons for this is that we believe I lie which says the more we give, the less we will have. And this is not necessarily true. It is the givers in life that end up with more. They have better relationships with people. They are happier and experience greater levels of peace. Giver become more the more they give. Givers grow, takers don't. A grain of wheat knows that when it falls to the ground, giving it's self and dies, an abundant harvest results. A wheat field ready for the harvest gives testimony to the previous generations of wheat which gave up themselves. The saints of the Church are perfect examples of people who lived generous lives and became more. They were givers, and not takers.
