Meanwhile the suspense continues in Rajasthan..it's a close contest between young and dashing Sachin piolt and veteran leader Ashok Gehlot..

Amid delay in the announcement of a chief minister for Rajasthan, state Congress chief Sachin Pilot on Thursday said he has full faith in the Congress leadership and made a fervent appeal to his party workers to maintain peace and ensure discipline. Gehlot too urged party workers to maintain calm while playing down reports of infighting among Congress leaders.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday held several meetings with observers and probable contenders such as Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot but the decision could not be taken. Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot is the frontrunner for the post.

Earlier in the day, Congress president Rahul Gandhi held one-on-one meetings with the top contenders Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot before taking a final call on who would head the government in Rajasthan.

On Wednesday, the newly elected MLAs passed a resolution urging Rahul Gandhi to take a final call on the name who will become the Rajasthan Chief Minister. Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot were the top contenders for the post.

On Tuesday, AICC general secretary in charge of the state Avinash Pande and party observer KC Venugopal met the MLAs and late evening left for Delhi. They will meet Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday and submit their feedback.

The Congress party won 99 seats in 200-member House. However, elections were held for 199 seats. The party has the support of lone RLD MLA and thus it enjoys a majority in the Assembly. The BSP of Mayawati has 6 MLAs and has also announced to back the Congress if needed.
