This is my instrumental acoustic guitar minus one (vocals) cover of The Company's hit OPM song "Muntik na Kitang MInahal" from their massively successful 1992 album 6by6.
This acoustic instrumental guitar version I made was inspired by Carol Banawa's version of the song from her album in 2001.
Little info about The Company from their wikipedia page:
The original members of The CompanY were former members of the 1981 and 1983 touring batches of Ateneo College Glee Club (from Ateneo de Manila University). Their musical director, Moy Ortiz, named the group after Stephen Sondheim's musical Company. The new group focused on contemporary jazz and a cappella music, instead of songs from the classical and traditional choral that they performed under the ACGC.[1]
The CompanY scored their first hit with the single Everlasting Love, which Ortiz co-wrote with Luigi De Dios and Rina Caniza.[2]
This was followed in 1992 by two other hits,“Muntik na Kitang Minamal ("I almost loved you") and “Now That I Have You,” from their second album Sixby6. That same year, The CompanY performed at their major concert with the Manhattan Transfer at the Araneta Coliseum
In 2014, The Company welcomed OJ Mariano as their newest member, replacing Jay Marquez.
Little info about Carol Banawa from their wikipedia page:
Banawa was born in Pasay City to parents Albino and Cirila Banawa. Raised in Batangas, she has two siblings, Alexander and Cherry. Banawa started singing when she was a little girl when her family lived in Saudi Arabia. Her family then moved back to the Philippines. There, she was invited to join the new roster of ABS-CBN stars through the children oriented show Ang TV.[6]
She has performed at the Madison Square Garden in New York at the 2003 New York Music Festival. She is currently signed to Star Music.[7]
In 2010, she made her comeback in the music industry,[8][9] and starred in the hit Philippine TV series, Mara Clara, where she sang the opening song of the said TV series.
In 2016, her song "Bakit Di Totohanin" was featured in one of the scenes of the U.S. drama series The Vampire Diaries.
