In 1998, HB Tórshavn, the most winning Faroese club, secured their first championship in eight years. In the same season, they also won the Faroese cup competition and became double winners of their country under guidance of Roumanian coach Ion Geolgău, once a great player himself.

HB 1998 were a strong team of legendary local players, including the Captain Marvel Jan Christian Dam, and the likes of Andrew av Fløtum, Allan Mørkøre, Jens Erik Rasmussen, Súni Fríði Barbá (Johannesen), Rúni Nolsøe, Hans Fróði Hansen, Magni á Lakjuni, the late Rói Árting and - of course - their excellent and reliable goalkeeper Kaj Leo Johannesen, presently serving as Prime minister and political leader of his nation...

Here, HB won 2-0 against KÍ Klaksvík in the 1998 Faroese cup final (goals by Hans á Lag and Andrew av Fløtum) and 10-1 against ÍF Fuglafjørður in the final round of the Faroese League.
