"The most violent of all known Wyrmkin in existence today, considered a Mark of the highest Priority for its ceaseless Attacks upon all manner of Peoples. Many are the Hunters who have assayed its Vanquishing, but none have succeeded. The petition for the hunting of this truly Fell Creature comes from one of the Pirates in Reddas's Employ, hoping to find someone strong enough to defeat the Pylraster." 

Battle

After accepting the hunt, Pylraster can be found outside the Pharos, in the section They Who Thirst Not. You can use the Teleport Crystal at the First Ascent and go outside to find the Mark. Pylraster can hit very, very hard; the good news is, you can block his strikes. You can set one of your tank to equip Main Gauche (optional), the best shield you have, and Gauntlets. It is very important that you buff your tank/decoy characters with Protect, or Protectga to all just to be safe. Pylraster has pretty good defense, so if you're not relying on powerful weapons (Zodiac Spear, Tournesoul etc.), equip one of your characters with a gun and set him as a support. You can also cast high level Black Magicks (Scathe, Flare, Shock...) on Pylraster, though it is advisable to reserve MP for healing (though you may want to cast dispel on it, mostly to remove Bravery and Haste which will make the battle a bit easier). Like all Tyrant-type monsters, Pylraster is capable of using Crushing Fangs, which hits about 5000 damage or above and may instant-KO your character. When his HP drops around 50%, he'll use Growing Threat, which doubles his level, now you have to heal fast and attack Pylraster at the same time. Set one of your characters as a White Mage and allow the other two continue attacking Pylraster.
