Our guest this week for our first half hour is Professor Arthur Leonard of New York Law School, who has been writing about LGBT legal issues for decades, including regularly for the Gay City News. He will walk us through the growing complexity of the court decisions on same-sex marriage from state and federal courts including: - A setback in the march to marriage equality: The Sixth Circuit lets state bans on same-sex marriage stand in Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee and Kentucky, setting up a likely showdown at the United States Supreme Court. - But in Missouri just this past week both a state and a federal judge strike down the state ban on same-sex marriage. - In South Carolina, a federal judge strikes down the same-sex marriage ban. ALSO IN THE NEWS: A Mennonite pastor performs a same-sex wedding for his son and loses his credentials. HRC announces the city highest on its Municipal Equality Index and it is a surprise even to some who live there. Two women legally marry in Russia. We will tell you how. Big win for transgender people in Malaysia.
