NYPD: Suspect packages treated as live devices

(25 Oct 2018) Investigators say some of the package bombs targeting critics of President Donald Trump were sent through the mail, but that no new ones have been found in the mail system in the last eight hours. Phillip Barlett, of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, said Thursday that postal employees and inspectors are searching mail facilities for packages matching the 10 sent over the last four days. New York City Police Commissioner James O'Neill said investigators are treating the devices as if they're real and potentially dangerous. Deputy Commissioner John Miller said a retired NYPD detective reported the De Niro package to police after seeing images of the other packages on TV. Miller said the man works in security screening packages for the actor and recalled seeing a similar parcel addressed to De Niro.
