Remote retrieve for working dogs-

This video shows me working on remote 'fetch' with no mouthing from a distance.

I am using a tennis ball at first because this is an object that a dog will have a natural tendency to mouth a lot.

I personally never use any sort of 'hold' command, but prefer to refine 'fetch' to a higher degree.

In other words, if a dog is mouthing it is NOT fetch, just as if a dog were laying down, he would not be in a 'sit'.

It's obviously much easier if the dog is next to you, but this teaching phase allows me to always reinforce and teach, even from a distance.

The beginning is shown with a tossed object, from a remote sit, and in route to an object with more excitement followed by a remote sit.
