Near to Sapporo is a town called Otaru that has many old buildings, glassware shops and general cool stuff. In Februrary they hold a candlelight festival, which looks something like this (see video). The streets and by the canal is dotted with many little candles and displays that incorporate the light. It's pretty and romantic and frickin' cold.
