This started out with me wanting to write a more laid-back, folky song. That classic constant snare strategy was something I wanted to do for sure.
From a lyrical standpoint, I got to writing and thinking about how in my life at least, the focus is always on what's next. I'm so driven by ambition that I think I take for granted what I have in my life already: the successes I've achieved, the friends and family I have, the happiness even. I wanted to remind myself to slow down sometimes and look around. Life is pretty great! So be happy about how things are now, even if you're pushing yourself to greater heights.
