Prime Minister David Cameron will aim to visit every flood-hit area around the country "to try and learn lessons" after speaking with residents in one of the country's most flooded towns.

The Prime Minister visited the villages in Worcestershire and chatted to locals who had been affected by the flooding.

When asked about claims that cuts had weakened flood defences he said, "we've been increasing the amount of money spent on flood defences we spent 2.4 billion pounds over this four year period, compared with 2.2 billion under the previous government in the last four year period".

The Environment Agency said 16 severe flood warnings remain in place for the South West and the Thames Valley, with nearly 130 flood warnings and more than 180 flood alerts.
