Law perpetuates the ecological crisis and needs to be radically reconfigured to facilitate a viable human presence on the Earth. Peter Burdon is a Senior Lecturer at the Adelaide Law School. His PhD was in the field of ecological law and won the Bonython Prize and a University of Adelaide Research Medal for best original thesis. Since 2005 Peter has worked with Friends of the Earth Adelaide in the Clean Futures Collective. Peter also sits on the Ethics Specialist Group of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, the executive committee of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature and on the management committee of the Environmental Defenders Office (SA).

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
