A South African duo formed in 1969 by Fanus Botha (born 1938 in Rustenburg) and Anton Rossouw (born 1937 in Brakpan). They met in Marikana where Fanus farmed and Anton was a teacher at the local primary school, and became close friends. While driving in a car one evening and singing, they found that they harmonised well, and subsequently auditioned at Brigadiers Record Company. They decided on the name "Ou Menere" (Old Gentlemen), as 3rd year university students are referred to as "Menere" by students in lower grades, and as they had already completed their university training, they were now "Ou Menere". Their first LP, "O, die lekker lewe!" was released in 1969 and consists mostly of typical student songs. They released 3 albums in total before splitting up in 1981. This song is from their first album, "O, die lekker lewe!" from 1969.
