The Infiniti QX50 is built on an all-new platform, featuring a front-engine, front-wheel drive-based layout. Engineered with the flexibility of application in mind, the new platform sets new standards for refinement, rigidity and interior space in the compact premium SUV segment. But there is more than good looks to it, Infiniti offers the world’s first production-ready variable compression ratio engine ( Called VC engine). A breakthrough in combustion engine design that buyers won't really care about because you can't see it! The 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine adjusts its compression ratio to optimize power and efficiency. It combines the power of a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with the torque and efficiency of a four-cylinder diesel engine. The QX50’s AWD drivetrain constantly monitors traction levels and wheel spin and can send up to 50% of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels to maintain traction. If the extra rear-wheel traction isn’t required, the drivetrain defaults to front-wheel drive for maximum efficiency. When accelerating from a standstill, the system automatically reverts to AWD power delivery, with a 50:50 front-to-rear torque split. So will this engine technology be enough to attract more buyers?
