2018 North Mariana Islands Teacher of the Year Antenille Santos pays tribute to a colleague and mentor who “went out of her way to make all of her children feel wanted and comfortable and loved in her classroom,” she says. “And she made it effortless. And she made sure that she reached out to each and every one of her students.” As a result, Santos has been inspired her to become a better teacher, mindful of children’s emotional and psychological needs in addition to academics.
