Wonderful Jagaddhatri Puja 2016.(Santan sangha,Binir hat) Chandannagar is popular for celebrating the Jagadhatri Puja festival for four days. In 2016, Jagadhatri Puja begins from 6th of November, 2016 to 10th of November, 2016. As per Hindu calendar, Jagadhatri Puja (जगद्धात्री पूजा, জগদ্ধাত্রী পূজা) is a four day festival that starts from seventh day of shukla paksha of Kartik month and lasts till tenth day of the same month. Jagadhatri Puja (जगद्धात्री पूजा, জগদ্ধাত্রী পূজা) is primarily observed in the state of West Bengal and some parts of Odisha, Bihar and North east region of India. It is a Hindu festival that starts on the day after Chhath Puja. Some people refer it as the Second ‘Durga Puja’. The celebrations are similar to ‘Durga Puja’ that takes place in month of September or October. However, Jagadhatri Puja (जगद्धात्री पूजा, জগদ্ধাত্রী পূজা) in 2016 will begin on Monday, 7th November and will last till Thursday, 10th November. Jagadhatri Puja (जगद्धात्री पूजा, জগদ্ধাত্রী পূজা), also spelled as ‘Jagaddhatri Puja’, is one of the most important festival celebrated in West Bengal. On this day, devotees and followers of Goddess Durga worship Jagadhatri Devi. Goddess Jagadhatri is reincarnation of goddess Durga. The celebrations are grand and the joy of festivities even grander. The true spirit of people of West Bengal can be seen in the preparation of the festival. Huge pendals, king size idol of devi Jagadhatri and bountiful of decorations. Every corner in the state of West Bengal is lit-up in colorful lights. Uncountable number of stalls selling variety of items and eatables cover both side of the street. Meanwhile big trucks are decorated artistically with lighting as well for distributing the holy Bhogs among the people on Navami. The popularity of this festival lures the common people including the travelers and trippers to come here and participate in the event.
