In a post-season friendly last weekend he opened the batting with his son, Sam, and soon saw the side 11 for 3! He then set about chasing down the daunting target of 225 to win, sharing a 130 partnership with 1st XI player, Tyler Ward. When Tyler was out we still needed 80. Darren continued his swashbuckling style - when he hits it, it stays hit - and moved through the gears eventually reaching his hundred before retiring with an injured calf. Apart from the opener and a couple of useful young spinners, the bowling wasn't always top notch, but all you can do is play what is delivered and the ball still needs to be hit into the gaps - something Darren did with unerring accuracy. He seemed to middle just about everything! This was Darren's first hundred and he was certainly "on fire". Well batted, Sir!
