Saint Mary's Lighthouse is located at Whitley Bay, UK. Sometimes it is an island, sometimes it can be reached via a short causeway when the tide is out.

The lighthouse was finished in 1898 due to the hazardous nature of the rocky coast. It remained in service until 1984 when modern navigational technology rendered it obsolete. Today the lighthouse and former keepers' cottages are a visitor centre operated by North Tyneside Council.

There is a nature reserve nearby, maybe I make too make sarcastic comments because sometimes one can see interesting wildlife. As a child I can remember large amounts of cormorants along the coast, unfortunately none were out on the day of this visit.

My channel on you tube : http://www.youtube.com/alanheath is one of the most prolific from Poland. There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- http://www.ceepackaging.com - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focussing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers. Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine!
