Did a real quick bowl this morning. Turned a piece of Cherry(not wild Black Cherry, but the purple leaf/fruit-bearing kind that doesn't show up in my "Tree Identification Book"....more research will be necessary) that I had scored from a blown down tree next door...decided to do this one the hard way, and turn it end-grain.....mostly just to see what it'd look like once I had it done.(forgot how 'not-too-much-fun' end-grain turning was) Was luck enough to be able to keep the bark on(for now)....did a quick sanding job on it and sealed it in BLO to slow down the drying mostly. Not sure what'll become of this one? But I thought I'd share regardless of how it came out.....maybe if I remember in about 6 months, I can take a photo of it and we can see what the drying process ended up doing to it.
