Picking technique is an important aspect of learning to play guitar well. How a guitarist picks can be as crucial to defining style as the choice of notes a guitarist selects when playing a solo or lick. A lot of beginning guitar players neglect their picking technique early on and find they struggle a little bit when they realize what they need to accomplish. This lesson is a great way to get started with your picking technique. It’s useful because it involves using a plectrum as well as one or more fingers, making it a versatile technique that can challenge the way you think about picking your guitar strings.
