Violence stretches into weekend with 24 shot, 5 killed since Wednesday

Since the first of the month, police say the department has responded to a “concerning” number of violent crimes. Police said 24 people have been shot since Wednesday. Four of those people died. Detectives are investigating a fifth homicide during the same time period, but have not determined how the woman died.
