Theresa May vowed to the almost one million Poles living in the UK today that they could stay in Britain whatever happens to her Brexit deal. The Prime Minister is clinging to Downing Street despite her deal appearing to be doomed early in the New Year. But welcoming Poland's PM Mateusz Morawiecki to London for a summit today, the Prime Minister said: 'You can stay, and we want you to stay'. Britain has made unilateral guarantees to all EU nationals living in Britain despite the stalemate over how to deliver Brexit. Mr Morawiecki and Mrs May will discuss defence and security links against the backdrop of concerns about Russia's activities.
