In the area around Sake, west of Goma, MSF supports the hospital in Kirotshe and provide psychological assistance to displaced people in Shasha. Mobile clinics provide medical and psychological care to the populations of Karuba, Mushake, and Rubaya - three areas controlled by the rebels. MSF also crosses the frontline to transfer patients to Kirotshe hospital. To work on both sides of a frontline, MSF teams develop contacts with communities and also with the different armed groups. To get access to conflict areas, neutrality is key.
