New Mexico Leans Toward Democrats

Polls indicate that the southwestern state of New Mexico is leaning toward the Democratic party this year. Voters will be electing two U.S. Senators, because the Republican incumbent Pete Domenici (Doh-MIN-ah-chee) is retiring, plus all three of its seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. New Mexico also seems to be favoring Democrat Barack Obama for President. VOA's Greg Flakus went to New Mexico to find out why this state, that has voted for a Republican presidential candidate for the past 40 years, is now heading toward the Democratic column.
