Zinc granules are inserted into a test tube with a little bit of concentrated hydrochloric acid. The chemical reaction produces hydrogen gas. A flame test is done to prove that the gas is hydrogen. Two different sizes of test tubes are used to produce the different pitches of sound produced when the hydrogen gas reacts. ScienceFix.com producer: Darren Fix
