After booking tickets to see Idlewild play two shows on their Highlands and Islands acoustic tour back in March, the time finally arrived to see the band play for the first time since the end of 2010 when they toured the re-release of 100 Broken Windows. The first of these acoustic shows was held at the Old Bridge Inn in Aviemore and as such, we decided to leave early and film some interesting things on the journey north. The first stop of the day was Dalnaspidal where we look at a 1920's road bridge which was turned into a tunnel when the A9 was rebuilt in the 1980's. I also show you a pair of identical Owen Williams bridges on the former A9 route whilst Andrew gives you a brief look at the Falls of Truim and an in-depth study of the Ruthven Barracks. This video also contains a special cameo from our Birmingham residing friend, Stuart Bunce. As for the music, since this video was made because we were travelling to see Idlewild, it seemed fitting to use a few snippets of acoustic versions of their songs. Neither of us wanted to record any of the shows as it's more enjoyable to just sit and watch but a couple of the videos from the Aviemore gig have surfaced so if you want to see what the concert was like, take a look at these videos (see if you can spot us in the crowd). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYd1bh5Pfck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mEI0PWCTJ0
