When it comes to shooting a scene, lighting is the tool that gives it a specific tone. My favourite locations to shoot in are ones that are abandoned. Unfortunately the majority of these locations have no power and I can't afford to rent a generator to supply it. Through trial and error, tears and sweat, I 'v come up with a simple run and gun tool that works extremely well in low light situations. An Ipad! Now for the majority of you who don't own a tablet it would be silly to purchase one over a set of lights. For me I have my parent's one at my disposal. A simple alternative to using a tablet is a cell phone or a laptop, basically anything wireless that has a bright screen. A few weeks ago my lovely lady and I took the challenge into making a short horror film that would only be lit by mobile devices, the result? You be the judge!
