Bomb found in central London: Urgent EVACUATION as police warn public to AVOID area AN EVACUATION is underway in central London after an unexploded World War 2 bomb was discovered at the Golden Lane Estate in City of London. The Golden Lane Estate is currently being evacuated after construction workers unearthed the UXB earlier today. A City of London Police spokeswoman confirmed an evacuation was underway after a “World War 2 bomb” was found. A huge 400-metre cordon has now been erected as residents are evacuated. The force tweeted: “Police are responding to a World War Two ordnance discovered during excavation work on the Golden Lane Estate. “City of London Police and the Met Police have put up a 400m cordon. “Evacuations are taking place and we are advising people to avoid the area.” Local workers and residents have taken to social media to describe the scene.
