Phil had some buckets of material left over from thermal city he had to run still, and we had previously found this great place to setup sluices, with lots of bedrock and black sand and easy access in. While he ran the material from Thermal City, I did some sampling in the numerous washes nearby.

I found a couple small specs (40-60 mesh) of gold coming from one wash, and one smaller piece (about 40 mesh) also in the direction of that wash. Also found a larger piece of galena or hematite (about thumb size), but before I could test what it was I somehow lost it. I am hoping I threw it in my pack but it got too dark tonight to tell. I took back 3 buckets of material that I still have to go through, from scraping a dip in the bedrock along the wash, in the same place I found the galena or hematite chunk. I also gave Phil another decent sized piece of galena/hematite that I found on the bedrock. The bucket full of material that I got from scraping the bedrock dip weighs in at a hefty 85 pounds, probably from all the black sand at this place.
