A video mini-documentary (five minutes) of the agricultural input trade fair conducted under the MALIS Project on 23 May 2014 in Anlong Veng District, Oddar Meanchey Province. The video documents the process of the fair, as farmers go about their purchases from stall to stall, and features interviews with participants at the fair. This event is part of a series, occurring over one day for each of the several different locations until December 2014. Some 760 farmers and traders attended the fair in Anlong Veng and 427 registered members from 13 Community Based Organizations (CBOs) were issued vouchers worth up to 600,000 riel ($150 USD) to spend at the fair. The CBO members were required to repay 60% of the value of the vouchers to their respective CBOs, to strengthen the organizations and provide a mechanism for sustainability. The project also used the fair as a venue for promoting improved complementary feeding for infants and young children. Once farmers were issued vouchers for the amount of input credit they had applied for, they were given a final briefing and the trading commenced. Farmers then walked around the stalls, inspecting the goods on offer and the different prices and bargaining with stall holders before buying from the selection of agricultural and kitchen equipment available. The fairs gave participants a better insight into value for money and product quality, as well as experience in managing a small loan within their own means. They also benefitted from the inputs, which improved farm productivity and family feeding practices. © FAO: http://www.fao.org
