Recent technological and pharmacological advances have improved this treatment option, which involves combining radiation therapy and new medications, in an effort to make pancreas cancer more visible to the immune system.

In pursuit of better treatments and a cure, researchers have come together in collaboration through the Rogel Cancer Center at Michigan Medicine to form the Pancreatic Cancer Research Initiative, where new approaches, including investigating the function and potential application of immune-based therapies, are being researched.
