Originally released on June 27th, 2004. Play Goes to Pot aired and was seen by many Canadians while Canada was on the brink of the decriminalization.  The 2004 election happened soon after it aired which  elected Paul Martin's Liberals to minority government which was quickly defeated.  Stephen Harper's Conservatives have had 2 minority governments since then.  They've tried to pass two draconian drug law bills, Bill C-26 during the 39th Parliament of Canada and Bill C-15 during the current 40th Parliament of Canada

Canada is in the midst of decriminalization marijuana.  The year is 2004, Jean Chretien's decrim bill
