This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Digital literacy is not an age thing, it’s an education thing. All ages need more education and we need to work together to make it happen. Let’s shake off our assumptions and focus on learning. Jen Lee Reeves says it is going to take a little bit of work from each of us to make big changes.

Jen Lee Reeves is passionate about social media, digital literacy and advocacy. She is the social media trainer and a strategist for the AARP after 17 years in journalism. Most recently, she managed KOMU-TV8’s online properties and taught new media at the Missouri School of Journalism. She was a member of the inaugural class of the Reynolds Journalism Institute Fellowship in 2008-09.

Reeves speaks on the power of social media in business, non-profits, journalism and the higher education world. Reeves is also the founder of a special needs advocacy community, Born Just Right, where she shares stories and lessons as a parent of a child who was born with a physical difference. She is married with two kids and a dog.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
