At 3:45 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017, South Metro Firefighters were dispatched to a semi fire along southbound Interstate 25 at County Line Road. Battalion 41 was first to arrive at the scene and discover flames coming from the engine compartment. BC41 and the truck driver used fire extinguishers but were unable to control the fast spreading flames. Tower 34 blocked the right two lanes of traffic to protect the scene while Engine 33 deployed an attack hose line and extinguished the fire within seconds. Medic 34 was on scene in case anyone was injured; thankfully the driver of the semi was ok. The cause of the fire is believed to be mechanical in nature.
