On September 9, 2013, the Atlantic Council and the Global CCS Institute convened a roundtable discussion in Washington, DC, to explore the energy, environmental, and technology policy dimensions of the Kemper County Energy Facility -- a state-of-the-art coal gasification power plant with carbon capture and storage (CCS) for enhanced hydrocarbon recovery. The facility is currently being built by Southern Company, Mississippi Power, and KBR in Kemper County, Mississippi, and features technologies partly developed in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy.
