The Summit Highsteppers exist to spread the joy of swing dancing with the greater Gallatin Valley. The dancers hail from Bozeman and beyond, representing both Montana State University students and the community at large. The Highsteppers are performing the Big Apple, a classic Jazz age routine choreographed by one of the greatest swing dancers of all time and original Lindy Hopper, Frankie Manning. Individual couples will also perform original choreography and improvised showcases, highlighting different styles of swing dancing. By drawing from both traditional and original choreography, the Highsteppers seek to honor the roots of this uniquely African-American dance while celebrating the modern revival of swing. Dancers: John Schlender, Kathryn Howe, Jason Baide, Emily Reeves, Tyler de Caussin, Sara Kremer, Stephen Dobelbower, and Kathi Dobelbower.
